Elected Officials Summit

Elected officials from all of the cities and counties in the Sacramento Region met on October 14, 2004 to discuss and deliberate on the Blueprint Project's Discussion Draft Preferred Blueprint Scenario for 2050. The Summit was held at the downtown Public Library, at 828 "I" St., from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. About 80 elected officials were in attendance. California State Treasurer Phil Angelides gave opening remarks. The officials also heard a presentation by noted pollster Richard Wirthlin, of WirthlinWorldwide, on his firm's scientific poll on regional attitudes toward growth. The Draft Preferred Blueprint Scenario for 2050 was first presented to the SACOG Board of Directors on September 16. It was developed following unprecedented public discussion during dozens of interactive planning workshops held in conjunction with cities and counties region wide starting in 2003. The SACOG Board of Directors approved the scenario in its December 2004 meeting.
